The Biminis
Bimini, once the home of the Authour Ernest Hemingway (1935-37), is situated just 40 miles off the coast of Florida. Renowned for its fishing, Ernest Hemingway wrote a book about it, Islands in the Stream. Bimini is made up of two main islands, North Bimini and South Bimini. North Bimini has most of the population while South Bimini, where the airport is located, was used mainly for farming. When I think of Bimini, wild dolphins come to mind, as they are plentiful on this island. This continues to attract keen divers as they are able to get close to these exotic, healing creatures. Bimini is an island unlike any other, with its tiny population, it has few family run resorts, but be assured of a big Bahamian welcome. The island is so friendly and few, everyone knows each other by name!
